Episode 52: Guest Carl Sasyn

Guest Carl Sasyn tells the story of his biggest dumpster fire game he had complete with a goalie fight. Long-time pro hockey official and Mental Edge Method coach Carl Sasyn joined us for Episode 52. Carl is a seasoned ice hockey official with a career spanning over two decades in the American Hockey League (AHL). Born on August 15, 1967, in Niagara Falls, New York, Sasyn played as a defenseman in the ECHL during the early 1990s before transitioning to officiating.

Throughout his officiating career, Sasyn has been recognized for his dedication and excellence. Notably, he officiated three Calder Cup Finals series in 2010, 2011, and 2014. In 2019, he was honored with the Michael Condon Memorial Award, presented to an AHL on-ice official for outstanding service to the league.

Beyond his on-ice responsibilities, Sasyn is committed to athlete development. He serves as a Brand Ambassador for EDGE for Athletes, an organization dedicated to supporting athletes’ growth both during and after their careers. Additionally, Sasyn is a Mental Performance Mastery Coach, specializing in athlete growth and development, reflecting his passion for mentoring and guiding the next generation of athletes.

Sasyn’s enduring commitment to ice hockey, both on and off the ice, underscores his significant contributions to the sport.​
