Peter Gammons is a Hall of Fame baseball journalist renowned for his influential career spanning over five decades. He began covering the Boston Red Sox for The Boston Globe in 1969 and later contributed to Sports Illustrated and ESPN, where he became a prominent baseball analyst. In 2004, he received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, recognizing his exceptional contributions to baseball writing .​

Beyond journalism, Gammons co-founded Hot Stove Cool Music in 2000 alongside fellow writer Jeff Horrigan. This annual benefit concert merges baseball and music to support the Foundation To Be Named Later (FTBNL), established by Theo and Paul Epstein. The event has raised over $21 million, funding programs like the Peter Gammons College Scholarship, which boasts a 99% graduation rate among its recipients .​
